Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention Programs
Child Guidance provides ATOD prevention programming for both Delaware and Montgomery Counties.
Prevention is the action of stopping something before happening or arising. So, Alcohol Tobacco and other Drug Prevention stops drug misuse before it happens. To do so, we help people develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to change behaviors and make healthy choices. At Child Guidance, we provide prevention programs in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
In Delaware County, our prevention program includes two programs, Strengthening Families and Project Toward No Drug Abuse, and community outreach and education including the annual One Stride at a Time 5k and additional awareness efforts throughout the year.
The Strengthening Families Program is a 14-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children’s social skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for families. Both parents and children participate in this effective program that improves family relationships, reduces problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse in children and improve social skills and school performance.
